plants

medicine sometimes, teachers always, kin and partners. listening to plants is really good and important.

2/6/23 - Bristol-London

every second tree
is Hawthorn
or Elder
they burst up through the fields heaths and moors
flower around the edges
there is blossoming
happening in the interstices
there is magic in each five-petaled form
emanation
enticing and intoxicating

They were always side by side
woven in
to one another
these kin
my grandparents,
my family

I never knew them like this before
I feel …closer
like watching you dance freely in the water
made to be a mermaid
glittering on your golden mane

I would take you in
any day
and hold you up
above me
let you show me how it really is
your organismic gestures

the old powers of the earth
rise through the stone roots
like nerves through the teeth
so that the bones may feel touch
and transfer information
when I hold you with my bones
I always learn something I couldn’t have proposed

let me hold you up
above me
let me weave through your in betweens
let’s meet where you are buried
in the earth
and in me
